We do not want to hold your personal data. We will store as little data as possible to make the site work. Currently, we only store your username and email address. You can edit these at any time via the Personal Info page on your user profile. To remove them, just edit them to silly values. We use the email address to email you in relation to Experiment. We do not publicly display your email address.
If you sign in with Google, we will request access to your Google email address. We also request your public info (name, profile pic), because there is no way to NOT request this, but we discard it immediately.
If you sign in with Zooniverse, we will request access to your Zooniverse username and email address.
You are welcome to create a separate account for Experiment if you prefer; just register with us directly instead of using Google or Zooniverse.
If you sign in with Zooniverse, you will see a message from the Zooniverse reading:
Authorize Experiment to use your account? This application will be able to: Public, User
"To use your account" means "to share information to that service using your Zooniverse account". The information shared is then listed. "Public" is the public information about your Zooniverse account (from which we store your Zooniverse username) "User" is the non-public information Zooniverse has to identify your account (from which we store your Zooniverse email address plus a random unique id that Zoonverse uses internally).
